The debate is in full swing on the legitimacy of the method in the putting to death of Dennis McGuire, 53, who was convicted in 1994 for the rape and murder of 22-year-old Joy Stewart, and her unborn child.
It seem McGuire in a procedure during which he reportedly gasped, snorted and struggled as he died is by some considered inhumane. Indeed the family are in the process of suing the state on that basis.
Seven months pregnant and multiple stab wounds was the fate that awaited Joy.
Is it really a consideration that he took 24 mins to die, it took Joy longer…..
